Interim Sessions
Following the completion of the general legislative Session begins the off-season, or "Interim" Session. Once a month we meet in committees comprised of both House and Senate members and begin to craft and discuss proposed legislation for the 2020 general session. Our last Interim Session was on August 21.

Items Discussed During the August Interim Session

- The Public Education Interim Committee discussed reasons why AISU (a public charter school in Murray) closed, and how to prevent it from happening again. [DNews] - Also received this presentation.
- Utah lawmaker pitches plan to combat jail deaths. [DNews]
- Will Utah’s statewide education tests yield accurate, meaningful results after RISE debacle? [DNews]
- Utah lawmakers recommend e-cigarette tax bill to reduce vaping ‘epidemic’ in youth [DNews]
- Utah lawmakers look to tackle predatory towing [DNews]
- The Business and Labor Committee discussed alternatives to help residents and their HOAs avoid or resolve disputes, short of going to court and incurring court costs and lawyers' fees.
- Inmate Violence: Received a presentation from the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office on sentencing policies for violence among inmates.
